Where I stayed
Dawson Peaks Resort near Teslin, YT
Had light rain most of the day. That's the drizzly part. Saw 4 bears in northern British Columbia; one was possibly a young grizzly. That's the grizzly part...obviously.
Encountered for the second time a couple from Ohio whom I had camped beside two nights ago. Also encountered for the second time a family I met in a parking lot beside a short trail.
Entered into the Yukon today. Actually, the Alaska Highway crosses the BC-YT border several times.
Stopped for about 1/2 hour in Watson Lake, YT, to see the Signpost Forest. I found a few signs from towns in Alabama, but none from Decatur. (Alas, I didn't bring one to contribute.)
I'm having a great time. The woods smell good after rain, but the mosquitoes are out in force!!!! I took a short trail in the light rain to Rancheria Falls. This is a good example of a boreal forest.
It stays light a long time this far north. It's 8 pm (local time) but it seems much earlier. Dawson Peaks Resort is actually east of the village of Teslin, and right on Teslin Lake. There are RV and tent sites, cabins, and a restaurant. They serve very good rhubarb pie. Dawson Peaks Resort is a nice surprise in the middle of... nowhere.
I'll try to upload pictures tonight. The WiFi signal is moderate to strong here.
