Nothing like travelling the iInside Passage on the Alaskan Ferries. We have stopped in Ketichan to see the Grizzlies - saw orcas too. Bald eagles everywhere, nesting and diving on fish. 26 hours ferry travelling took us up to Juneau, 3 days there. Time to climb a peak over city, explore and visit the Mendenhall glacier. Glacier that bigs chunks of ice have dropped off. There we saw a juvenile black bear trying unsuccessfully to catch spawning sockeye salmon. They turn very red! Now have travelled 6 more hours to Skagway, reborn as the exciting frontier town it once was.
Tomorrow we start the Chilcoot trail so will be slugging away for 2 big days and 2 smaller days. Don't think I could've coped with gold fever - too much organisation and isolation. These days we n must be soft!!
Thanks for those who have added a comment or sent an email. I really appreciate it. Am travelling with a friendly group - 7 of us.

An old gold rush western town would've been cool to see!
Kia ora traveller! Morning tea again and this is how I spend mine reading your voyages - what an adventure! Bald eagles wow! and grizzlies even! hope you got heaps of pixs for us to enjoy.
The sun is shining in brightly through my office window, I have the venetians drawn to enjoy its fullness. Hopefully all this rain has subsided. Sinitia has been enjoying Room 5 (I think not?) Hugh (RTLB) seems to have been in there this week and done something up for her to assist in the reward system for the little darlings - obviously I didnt get enough information from him as to what he was doing in there so Im not that good at playing detective. Hopefully the days here will be a little warmer for your arrival home - you will be returning??? Otherwise things will be just the same as when you left apart from our school being a little more cheerier on your return. Will look forward to seeing you again when you return and we will need to make time for a coffee chat to hear all about the things you didnt write about. Thats it from me as the sick bay is filling up - catch up with you soon.
Bye for now Sharon
