Hi Everyone,
Yesterday we celebrated Columbus Day. In Spain it is called National Hispania Day but it is meant to be a celebration to honor Christopher Columbus and his voyages under the Spanish flag. My school was closed and in honor of dear old Christopher we decided to do some exploring.
We started off with a walk to the Seville archaeological museum. It is near the Plaza de America. This is a section of the city I had not visited before. As you can see in the pictures, it is beautiful. After the museum we strolled through the Parque Maria Luisa. There were lots and lots of people walking, riding bikes, and roller blading. There were lots of families with young children, lots of dogs, and lots of pigeons. The weather was slightly (maybe 3 degrees) cooler then it has been.
After the park we walked to the International festival for some Greek food. We had hummus and a Greek salad. The kalamata olives were delicious.
The fresh air, walking, sun, and food made me very sleepy. At 4pm I returned home for a Spanish siesta. Later I joined Sigrun for tapas at a new tapas bar. It was very very nice. We had a wonderful day of rest and relaxation and a small break from our Spanish lessons.
Tomorrow we are cooking an international breakfast in class. They voted on American pancakes. I am going to make a strawberry compote to go on top. I also bought some chocolate chips. We will have eggs, potatoes, jamon (ham), and some Swedish fruit dish. I have really missed cooking so I am very excited to be in the kitchen.
I will let you know how it goes.
Love,
Sue
