I included some photos of Bronner's Christmas store from yesterday on this blog.  We were very good when we visited the store - we managed to get out with only buying an ornament for each of the grands!
Today we took our bikes on the ferry to Mackinac Island.  The trip around the perimeter of the island is 8 miles and we started out!  The nice thing about riding bikes on this island is that they only allow bikes and horses - no motorized vehicles at all.  Well except in the winter when they allow snow mobiles!
After about a mile I said I don't think I can make the entire trip of 8 miles.  It just seemed too far - after all I had not ridden a bike in years!  But we kept going a little farther.  The scenery was beautiful and it was so peaceful.  All of a sudden we were at the half way point!  Well there was no going back now I said -  and also I thought I hated to pass up this opportunity.  So we took water breaks and photo ops and soon the 8 miles were done!
We parked our bikes and walked around the town a bit.  Had some lunch and went off in search of the Grand Hotel.  It was all uphill!!  Once we got close we saw a sign that said you cannot go on the property without paying $10.  So I took photos and down the hill we went this time in search of an ice cream cone!
Spring has just arrived up here and the flowers and trees were beautiful.  This morning when we got up it was 37 but by mid day it was sunny and warm.
Back in the campgrounds,  we took a much needed nap and started a charcoal fire and grilled steaks and had fresh corn on the cob for dinner.  We have a nice campfire going to end our wonderful day.  Tomorrow we are heading in to Canada.  I have no idea when I will have internet next but will catch up as soon as I can!

One of my favorite places in the US. We stayed at the Grand HOtel years ago. I remember a horse float floating in the pool, I thought it was a real horse. Keep going.

I am truly envious of your travels and glad I'm able to enjoy it with you thanks to your posts and pictures....On the homefront - the HPC voted today to move ahead with the book project and to wait until you return to take our group picture. Have fun, stay safe and see you soon!

Beautiful! I'm proud of you two for making 8 miles on the bikes. If you're not used to riding it can be really difficult. Now you can start training for some organized rides. LOL!!
PS Hope you wore your helmets.
