So we arrived in Chicago tired but impressed with our new destination.Chicago seems to us to be about the size of Melbourne, a clean, attractive city, abound with Spring flowers and situated on a Lake Michigan which is huge, more like a bay.
Canals run into the city. We walk and take a taxi tour to get a rough idea of the layout etc. We are impressed with the architecture, an effective union of contemporary and late 19th century.
We spent the overnight stop just resting and recuperating ready for the next leg of our  journey.
We realize our time in Chicago is far too short and did not do it justice.  This seems like our kinda town but one day is not enough to judge.
We hope to return possibly when we make it to Canada.

We do like Chicago. The high rises are not as dense and have more historic building among them. The wider streets and lower rise also help. We visit Millenium park that has a large outdoor theatre like the Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne, gardens and a modern, metallic sculpture, that can be fun to use as a reflective background for photos. .The other feature of Chicago is the huge Michigan Lake that the city is built by. We baulked at the cost of a jump on, jump off tour, even though we were too tired to walk much more. Instead we got lucky with a very enthusiastic taxi driver who took on great guided tour for a quarter of the cost.
