Today we wiped Edinburgh and Dunfermline off the map, however the highlight of the day was finally getting to cross the Forth Road Bridge which looked fabulous in the morning sun. Before we crossed we took a moment to sit and partake of a cup of tea at a hideaway service station on the South side to savour the view.  We took to the West Side footpath, as the East was closed for servicing.  It is only when you step out onto the bridge that the true size and magnitude starts to dawn, what an amazing feat of engineering. We were expecting it to be rather cold and windy on the crossing, however we were surprised at how calm the weather conditions were.

Venturing on from the bridge we went through Rosyth and onwards to the Dunfermline environs. Despite what you might perceive, Dunfermline appeared to be a gentrified town.  We then headed out to the open road once more where we always seem to find our feet and stride out to eat up the miles.  We covered 22km today.

We took camp at Kinross where we partook of a fish supper and were once again surprised to learn that Mary Queen of Scots had done likewise (By, that girl got about a bit, in more ways than one according to the historical research we have been doing recently.)

Superb photos of the bridges looking at their best. Great progress today!

I know Sue is quite handy with a paint brush, so I thought you might have found time to help them with the painting of the Forth railway bridge whilst you were in the area
