Of course as we go through customs, Sue gets the red light. We're running short on time to meet the ship at noon, so we start getting a little nervous. As they check Sue's bags, Ceil is in charge of exchanging money and ordering a cab. This actually works out very well and we arrive at the Marina to find the Tocorime. Captain Markus is there to welcome us and we are told that we are not the last to arrive. (hooray! we haven't been eliminated!). We meet Jeannie and Coreen from Calgary. Soon after we meet Tom and Diane and Mike and Fern (more canadians). We have our welcome aboard cocktail and meeting and we are shown the ship. Not quite what we imagined, but hey we're on an adventure here. Since all of our guests are here, Ceil takes the lead to untie us from the marina and we set sail. Hoist the sails! Hard work and basically for show since there is relatively no wind. We head for our first stop in Ilha Grande (big Island).
The trip takes over 12 hours and since we are already exhausted, Ceil gets a bit of sea sickness and goes to bed before dinner. Yes, you heard me right, El Capitano is sea sick. I am up much of the night, so I help our navigator (the adorable Rogiero), steer the boar.
