Saturday - We woke up late, had breakfast at the hotel, packed our bags and headed for the water bus.  We took water bus number 51 which took us around the side of Venice we had not gone through previously.  It is quite a fascinating city - one that we will come back to and spend more time at. At the train station in Venice we did meet a couple of people from St Paul, MN.  Spotted them by the "WCCO 830" bag on their luggage cart.  Felt bad for them as they had to spend the night sharing the room with some other couple because she had booked the hotel room on line for the wrong day.  I guess there were no other rooms available.  I would have slept on the street rather than spend the night in bed with a couple of strangers!

Our day took us on a train ride from Venice to Florance, then to Pisa and finally to San Vincenzo, which is on the western coast of Italy.  The train ride to Florence was quite pleasant and had nice views of the countryside (no bathroom lockins - just a minor issue with the water and toilet seat).  Every day is an adventure here.  We spent a couple of hours in Florence at the train station.  Sue met an interesting lady from New Zealand, while I tried a bottle of Bull Dog Strong Ale and went to figure out the cash machine (the Beer is not something I would buy again).   From Florence we took the train to Grosetto via Pisa.  This ride gave us quite a variety of scenery.  Beautiful coastal views, some very interesting sights along the way (several ladies with very little clothing on if any - it was very hard to tell if there was any), and lots of beautiful countryside.  The trees and homes on the hillsides are very picturesque.  We arrived in San Vincenzo late in the evening, around 8 pm and took a taxi to the resort.  He took us for a short tour of the town (builds the fare you know) and finally brought us to the resort.  We checked in with out incident and dropped our bags in our room.  The restaurant here was quite busy,  seems people here don't eat dinner before 7:30 - 8:00.  I was really hungry after not eating all day, so I went to have a couple of beers while Sue went to get her hair cut.  She now has that Swedish Italian look.  She doesn't want me to tell you that she looks really good now.  I had a bottle of the Ceres Strong Ale from Denmark and a glass of Nastro Azzurro, which was really a meal in it self! I did meet some Italian guy at the bar that shared his bread chips and Picanti sauce with me (sounds like a real Italian dish doesn't it).  Actually it was quite good, a bit hard to communicate, but was fun non the less.  We later had dinner at the restaurant which was very pleasant, great food and great service for a change.

Sunday - Today was pretty low key, a day of rest.  We toured another resort (no not the time share kind) only by mistake or mainly because we couldn't communicate.  We were asking about booking a tour like to Rome or Florence, and instead,  they took us on a tour of their resort.  It was still very interesting.  The ocean and beach are very nice as well. For noon we ordered a pizza for take away and bought a bottle of local Tuscan wine.  Both were excellent.  We took it back to the private garden in back of our room to enjoy.  We are not sure what is in store for tomorrow or the rest of the week.

Monday - Well this entry did not get sent yesterday because the internet service went down ust as we were trying to send, so hopefully I can get it sent now.  This morning we are going to catch the bus and go some where in San Vincenzo.  We will try get on the computer again tonight and update todays activity.

travel escapades
Hi Steve and Sue, your escapades sound like a lot of fun. The toilet incident is pretty funny, although prob not to Sue at the time. Glad everything is working out. Some of your items like Venice and the plaza with the pigeons bring back memories of my visit there with Kristina...some years ago.
Your travelblog is the high point of my day at work each day!
