Orchha is a small town in the middle of a harsh arid scrub landscape. The small bustley streets are overshadowed by imposing sandstone temples and palaces of ancient Indian empires, and with the busy market stalls lining the streets and the vultures and parrots flying above it does have its own charm and character. Despite this I did find the train from Agra and my first few hours in Orchha wierd for some reason, possibly down to the fact that I'm travelling alone again. Its possibly the after effects of Delhi & Agra but I've now begun questioning peoples intensions. The people here seem friendly and I'm sure they probably are, but I can't help feeling that they're being over friendly and have other dodgier agendas in mind so I now take everything with a pinch of salt and don't seem to trust anyone. I spent day 2 here exploring the temples and actually got food poisoning last night, but luckily it only lasted the night and I woke up this morning feeling good. Today I've been trying to escape the heat and the noise so I found myself a hidden corner within the palace grounds where I've been whiling away a few hours waiting for my train tonight which will take me to Varanasi overnight. I should arrive in Varanasi at 10:50am for my birthday.
