Where I stayed
Quick adventure story. We land. We get our stuff and decide to save some bucks (or Euros I should say) and take the bus in towards our hotel instead of a taxi. It meant a 10 minute walk with all of our luggage (going on no sleep) but... to save 25 Euros ... no problemo. We figured it would be a nice quick intro to the city. We thought the kids might enjoy seeing some landmarks. We assumed the light showers would remain light. ... We were wrong on pretty much all accounts
Dumped our stuff in the room, grabbed some grub at a local spot, and came back to the room for naps. Hit the hay around 2pm, alarm woke us up at 4pm. We hung around in the room hiding from the rain as we tried to wake up. Then, just as the clock neared 6pm, I realized that the Christchurch across the street was having a "Cathedral Choral Evensong" service. How cool. We could sneak in as parishiners and save on the 15 Euros it woulda cost if we went as tourists! lol. The bell began to sound as we sprinted across the street, made it just in time. The father/priest guy says, "Sorry folks. Closed to visitors...". ... I say, "Oh no. We are here for the service." He steps aside and we got a great experience listening to a nice Irish Choir sing in a cathedral hundreds and hundreds of years old. Pretty neat experience ... although I will say that at the end of the service, the pipe organ music began to sound ridiculously dark, deep, and ominous ..
Back to the hotel for the stroller ... and then we hit up The Brazen Head, Dublin's oldest pub. 800+ years by my count. Threw back a Guinness, some awesome bangers and mash ... and out for some more strolling ... a walk to Old Jameson Distillery.
Another great day in the books!
