16/7/06

Getting to Shimla was a major, MAJOR effort!!

1st we took a shared jeep at 7am from Srinagar, succesfully got out of that exploading city and made our way 7 hours south to Jammu by shared jeep. We got to Jammu 9 hours after leaving and i decided we shoul go straight onto Shimla (a further 10 +3 hours away).

We met an Indian couple who invited us back to their house while we waited. They made us nice food and were really hospitable. Paulina really got on with the girl. Although they were a relly nice couple i just wanted to get the trael done with so we left them - despite their pleas for us to stay and embarked on the long bus journey to Chandigrah.

We got to Chandigrah an hour late and then got straight onto another bus for 4 hours to Shimla.

All together we treled for 22 hours and now i feel terrible - it makes me wonder if the travels are worth it!

Ok, the travels are worth it!

Shimla is a nice hilside town. The weather is terrible, raining all the time although the tempreature is a nice 20oC-25oC! Our time here has been very, very lazy!
The journey really took it out of me so the 1st 2 days were spent in the room watching the TV and the rain outside. On day 3 we went out, saw the city and went for a walk which was nice.

On day 4 a monkey managed to open our window, steal a bunch of bananas and my glasses and leave! my glasses were next to the bananas but no matter how much i looked for them they simply could not be found - damn that monkey!!!!

We watched 2 Lord of the Rings yesterday, we were ment to be on a bus but didnt get up for the 10 hour trip at 4am so we have another day wasted here.

So today - we goto Rishikesh, i am determind to be less lazy there and actually do something!
