After a quick 1.5 hour flight we arrived at Changi Airport. We decided to take the MRT (metro/tube) as this was cheap and reasonably quick. The hostel we booked was in Little India and after a few minutes walk we found the hostel. After checking in we relaxed for a while and had a walk around the area. We found an electronics shopping mall and Stu was loving it. Found an Apple dealer and found out iPad's are a lot cheaper in Singapore but didn't get one just yet. After leaving that mall we walked about another few malls and called it a night as we had Universal Studio's planned for the next day!

We got up early on Friday and got the MRT to the Waterfront from there we got the Sentosa Express. Sentosa is a man made island about 700 meter from Singapore's waterfront and has a bunch of hotels, shops, golf course, waterparks and Universal Studios. After getting the tickets for the park we could go straight in as the park had just opened and was still really quiet so made use of that by jumping on the first roller coaster. The park is quite small but we were there from 10 till 5 and weren't bored so enough to do. There are 7 worlds like Far Far Away from Shrek and The Lost World from Jurassic Park - you get the idea. Shrek 4D was good and Stu seemed to love Revenge of the Mummy just because he had never heard me scream so loud! Donkey Live was pretty good to and had some good jokes with one being that Singapore is a fine city especially seeing you get a fine for everything from eating on the train, smoking, drinking and much more! The weather had been good most of the day but started spitting late afternoon so did a few more rides and one more show and left.

After taking the Sentosa Express (monorail) back we stumbled unto a massive shopping mall and popped into the shops looking for an iPad 2 and woohoo found one in stock so I received my birthday present about a month early and Stu deserved price for best boyfriend! Did some window shopping after that and headed back to the hostel. Back in the room I tried to switch the iPad on but found out I need a pc to start it so we headed to the nearest Internet cafe and while I got the iPad sorted Stu updated the blog. So with that done I was a happy bunny and we skyped home and had a happy mother, to besides talk to us see us again as well! Headed for bed to get some rest for the following day which was to be another busy one!

Saturday was our day for seeing Singapore. We bought the Singapore pass which was for the Singapore flyer (like the millennium wheel but bigger) duck boat tour, bus tours and lots more. We headed for Marine Bay station as we thought that was the closets. Wasn't so but gave a great view of the business district (similar to Canary Wharf) and the whole bay area. There is a massive hotel there called the Marina Bay Sands Hotel which has everything (rich) people could need! Massive shopping centre, casino, restaurants, museum and theatre. Christmas has arrived in Singapore with lots of decorations, feels very strange that we are so close to Christmas seeing it's 32 degrees.

After walking around the area and Stu drooling over the F1 track we headed up the Singapore Flyer and enjoyed some amazing views. It's unbelievable how many ships there are in the docks! It took about 35 minutes and luckily the visability was pretty good and we even saw the coast of Malaysia! After the wheel we went on the duck tour which is a bus that goes onto water and the guide showed us around the Marina area for about an hour. As soon as we got of the bus Stu got stung by a wasp and wasn't happy to say the least.

As Stu's Birkenstocks are dirty, rusty and worn out we went to the Birkenstock store to see if he could get a new pair but after seeing they are twice as much as in the UK he decided to leave it.

After leaving the nice air-conditioned mall again we headed for the yellow bus tour for one more hour sightseeing. Saw some great places and girls if you ever want to go on a shopping trip (and you have money to burn!) head for Singapore. There is a shopping street called Orchard street which is a 6 km long shopping heaven!

We got off at the Raffles Hotel stop and took a few pictures before heading back to meet Stu's mate Gareth at the POW (prince of wales hostel). After getting wifi back on the phone we found out he was here earlier and we had missed him so hopefully we'll see him tomorrow. About to have showers and freshen up before hitting the town for a few drinks!

Our last day in Singapore we had planned to spend it at the Singapore zoo as we heard so many good things about it. We took public transport there which was nice as it allowed us to see more of Singapore but it also meant that it took us an hour and a half!

When we arrived we quickly got tickets and had a look at the feeding schedule as we had 5 minutes to get to the Komodo dragon feeding we rushed or should I say ran through the park and when we got there we just caught the last bit which was the komodo dragon with a rope in it's mouth, assumed it had previously had something at the end of the rope and a second later snapping the rope and walking off.

After that we kinda just ran from one feeding show to the next. We fed giraffes, got close to the orangutans and saw loads of animals we'd never seen before.

In the evening we continued to the night safari which is the park next door to the zoo. The night safari is basically a park with nocturnal animals. When we went into the park we started at the creatures of the night show. It started with the host explaining about the night animals and suddenly a loud bang sounded and a another guy ran on stage screaming stuff and the host went backstage and frantically ran around. He than told the audience "Maggie was missing" then he went to a few seats in the arena and said to everyone to step aside as it was very dangerous. Then two other guys lifted some seats and pulled out a MASSIVE python! Safe to say I freaked a little and would not have been pleased if I had been sitting there. After the show we went on the tram ride and went round the park seeing all the animals in the dark which was pretty awesome. We took one of the last busses back and very tiredly went to bed as soon as we got back to our room.

When we got up we quickly packed and got the tram back to the Airport to head to Bali! Singapore had been a great stop, expensive, clean, impressive and in our opinion worth a visit.
