murray and i had talked to a guy from singapore when we were in Kota Kinabalu and mentioned that we had a reservation for two nights at a hostel call the "dragon inn" immediately he shook his finger and said "no, no, no, no, no, no"  very dirty.  we didn't arrive in singapore till 1am from bali so we were forced to test our luck and stay there anyways.  that night we only paid for the first nights reservation because we weren't sure if we would be leaving the next day for KL or if we would find a better place to stay.  after spending all teh day at the zoo we returned to the dragon inn (where we had left our bags for the day) and learned that the owner had given away our rooms that we had a standing reservation for. (two weeks ago we booked to nights at this place)  obviuosly this news was subpar and i was not pleased with her decision.  she was quite pushy and started talking nonsense about what how when we only paid for the first night upon our arrival she thought that meant we weren't staying. i reminded her that i explicitly said "we'll just pay for one night for now and see about tomorrow."  the whole conversation was rediculous and i found myself living that scene from seinfeld at teh rental car agency "dont you see, the reservation keeps the room available for us" check it out on www.youtube.com/watch?v=WeHG-8rfqKM

so within 15 minutes of leanring the news we called the night train service to Kuala Lumpur and were lucky to get two cancellations, hopped on a taxi who practically burned rubber to get us there before the train left at 9.  the night train was pretty comfortable, murray and i played a couple games of gin rummy on the bottom bunk, then i put my ear plugs and tried to sleep through the noise of the train.  we arrived at KL at 7am.  hung out till 9am when the visitors center opened. (i ate two doughnuts and got some choc milk, which didn't taste like milk....it was weird) we have a week until kerry, murray's girlfriend is supposed to fly into KL, so we don't want to do any of our planned activities here until she arrives.  we ran into a very friendly, helpful malaysian girl who showed us how to get a bus ticket to taman negara national park.  we leave tomorrow at 9:30am and will get there around 7pm after taking a series of buses.

no pictures for now, left my camera in our room.
i think we've almost reached the half way mark of our trip.  it has gone by super fast.  its nice getting emails from all of you! thanks for staying in touch.

ps  if you thinking about stayings at the Dragon Inn Hostel try to find another place....maybe even a park bench! lol
