I had to look for some kind of sweater yesterday because I was so cold. I didn't bother to bring a jacket, remember.. and I got sick in England. So I bought a thin long sleeve black blouse, highly unfashionable, but when am I really in fashion anyway. I didn't want to buy a big bulky sweater that I would only use for a couple of days and have to carry around for months thereafter, so I settled for this thing for 5 euro, bargain.
Nothing going on around here last night but I had seen some posters advertising a showing of Harry Potter so I was determined to find out when and where. After walking a good hour to the end of the beach and up and around some streets and asking several people, I found the theater. It was a nice outdoor theater and had this been summertime it would have been very pleasant, seeing that it was cold and windy I had to stick my arms under my shirts to try to keep warm! Loved the movie though! Sorry Jessie I know we were suppose to go see it together man!
After the movie I wanted back to near my hotel and it was quite a long walk. It's very safe here, nothing like at home, there's practically no crime. But it's not well lit in many places and I tend to have an over active imagination. I walked as fast as my legs would go and even ran a bit of the way and when i say a bit i mean seriously like 60 seconds, haha bad knees! I just freak out too much that's all. But I made it fine of course and went to dinner at a taverna at 1030pm , just like the Greeks now, oh and I also took a nap in the afternoon! haha. I had stuffed Aubergines (eggplant) I'm going to have to see if i can figure out how to make this dish when i get home. Eggplant sure does look nasty but it taste pretty good.
This morning I got all packed up and was walking out the door when the owner stopped me to tell me about the ferry situation. So I put my bag back in my room and he gave me a lift to one of the tourist office so i can hear the news myself. Nope no ferries going to Mykonos (or anywhere) today. Great. I gave him 20 euro for another night.
I took the bus back to Lefkes to conquer that old road from yesterday. I walked along that terribly rocky road for 15 minutes or so until i saw a main road that looked much easier so I followed that along to the top of a hill with an old windmill and a view all the way out to the ocean and of all of the surrounding village. Even though the wind was going 90 miles an hour I was still sweaty, it' was a tough walk in some parts!
I'm back in Parikia now, I think I'm going to search for a little book in the touristy shops about Greek Mythology. I've got loads of time to kill so why not get educated. Hopefully I'll have something more interesting to talk about tomorrow!
