We arrived in Labuanbajo yesterday. Although there isn't much to set it apart from other fishing town/rural jump-off points, Semporna for example, the place has instantly charmed the pants off Steve and I both.

We came here for two reasons: Diving and dragons. We started with the diving today and our underwater escapades were just the cherry on top of the 6 hours sailing through what I think might be the most incredibly beautiful part of the world we have encountered yet. Indonesia has 18000 islands and from the few hundred we sailed past today it seems like each one is more beautiful than the next. Check out our pictures and you'll see what I mean.

The diving itself was challenging to say the least. Strong currents make diving Komodo difficult, especially as we're new to the game. We were told by our dive master that when it comes to diving "Every day's a school day". True dat. We got schooled in washing-machine style killer currents but at least we can say that it really raised the bar for us.
