Their home, built a bit over 25 years ago, resembles farm homes you might see around Yolo County with great pastoral vistas, rolling hills, and spectacular views of the countryside--and with 4 sweet donkeys in the field across their road. They have a huge front bay window that allows them to see forever.
Marie and her family had hosted Sue's daughter, Renee, a couple of times in the 80s. They shared their love of Renee, had all of her cards and letters, and were happy to have us visit.
We drove to a park near their home, Gosford Forest Park
There were many travel trailers and campers at the park; it's apparently a popular camping destination, especially on the Easter weekend.
The Conlon's daughter, Laverne, a good friend to Renee on her visits, came by with her husband and two young sons. She is close to Renee's age and shared some of her memories, too. The two boys, Conor and Eoin (Owen) were adorable. Conor is 9 and looks much like Janice's grandson, Trey. There are no words to describe his wee brother, 4 years old. They said he was a little devil...he is definitely an imp of magnificent proportions.
The photos probably won't do the kids justice. They were very entertaining, and Eoin was in constant motion; I could barely snap a photo of him.
Fresh caught salmon, potatoes, mixed vegetables, and salad for dinner. Apple tart with custard sauce for dessert. Everything was delicious--the salmon was amazing!
Several folks dropped by to meet us, including Marie's nephew, Jim Finegan and his family. They, in fact, brought us back to Kathleen's.
A great day!
