Another really nice drive back to Menton today.  We hugged the coast instead of opting for the highway.  It was a beautiful day and a very enjoyable experience.  Some of the views were outstanding.  So many villas and little homes dotted over the hillsides and springing up out of the Mediterranean vegetation.  It was really quite charming.

I spend my evening contemplating my adventures ahead and the ones I have already encountered.  There is some beautiful scenery across the French Riviera, but ultimately it isn't where I would want to be.  I don't think it has a heart.  Or a soul.  It's unforgiving.  It's too up it's own arse.  The people are not the friendliest by a long chalk, nor can they drive to save themselves.  The radio is laced with horrible music, and both the food and the wine you can find better elsewhere.  Another thing I noticed, was that they are totally obsessed by the British.  The Union Jack appeared to be everywhere, adorned across wares in various stores, on everything from cushions to handbags.  Upon touching down in Luton and on the subsequent drive to London, my eyes scanned over the lush green English fields from the coach window.  You couldn't pay me to change my nationality.  Unless of course I was French.
