Leasurely drive through to Cannes via Nice.  Nice was...nice.  I just hadn't seen anything to really make me fall for the place though.  It just feels like a big resort.  Souless and dispite the money; really cheap.  The only thing it had going for it was the weather.  I've never been a beach bum or a sun worshipper either.  Here were all manner of folk getting their kit off and burning themselves to a crisp.  Some sights here cannot be unseen; particuarly amoung the large amount of elderly beachgoers.  It was time to take the fillets out of the oven.
Cannes as you would expect is geared towards the film festival.  So much so that the hotel room I booked at Al Pacino's face above the bed.  A huge, passion killing picture of Al Pacino.
I would perhaps return here when the circus comes to town, but it it just had a similar vibe to the rest of the south coast.  if you've got money here then you're sorted, otherwise you're doomed to the green eyed monster of insane jealousy.  Jealousy and contempt.  More contempt.  And hatred.  Bitter, bitter hatred.

And jealousy.

We ate at one of those lovely restaurants down a cobbled side street, with tables outside and romance in the air.  Apart from getting accosted by bad musicians, rose sellers and dudes peddeling dancing minstrel toys, it was a pleasant experience.  However all this talk of French cusiene being outstanding is a load of tosh.  It was nice.  I've had better.  About the only thing I really adore is a creme brulee.
