We took a short 40 minute flight across the Bass Straight to Launceston in the middle north section of Tasmania.  Launceston is the second largest city in Tasmania and is known for its historic buildings, Cataract Gorge and Tamar River wine country. After picking up our lovely van, we viewed the gorge just before heading to taste wines and stock up for the week.  It is cold in Tasmania, so the white grape wines are the specialty around here.  We then headed west toward Cradle Mountain- Lake St Clair National Park, but made a detour to the Ashgrove Cheese Factory for a view and taste.  Once we had all our purchases, we headed to a free campsite close to Cradle Mountain.  Tomorrow we are going for a hike and want to be as close as possible to start the day early.  Usually 6 out of 7 days is cloudy and rainy at Cradle Mountain so hopefully we will luck up!
