We finally made our way up to Port Douglas, which is a nice vacation spot, but terribly hot right now. Spring is their busy season because the summer is too hot to bare, so lucky us for being there to kick their season off! It is a nice port town with a small marina and beautiful 4 mile beach lined with palm trees and a view of the surrounding mountains. The ride from Cairns to Port Douglas is awesome because the road hugs the mountain range and ocean. Sometimes you are in the mountains looking down at the water, and other times you are eye level with the sand. We drove it during our favorite time of day, late afternoon, so we got to see yet another great Australian sunset.
