The Australian Zoo was really neat, especially since we were a bit skeptical at first. We don't really tour zoos all that often, but this one was the most interactive and educational one we have yet to visit. We saw many animals, but our favorites were the koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, tasmanian devils, wombats, and of course the crocs, not to be confused with gators... (so I was told while camping at Binna Burra- no gators in Australia.) Apparently crocs have a pointy snout, where as gators are round. Also crocs are known to be more aggressive.
(Sidenote: The Australian Zoo did in fact have American alligators on display at their zoo, so Australia in deed has a few gators around.)
Yes tasmanian devils are real, the koalas were snuggly soft, and the kangaroos are hungry :)
They had an open field full of kangaroos and wallabies that would eat the "kangaroo food" (corn, oats, etc.) right from your hand. There were no instructors or workers around, just you and the animals. We also got to take a picture with a 3 year old koala named Bailey. He was so cute, I was about to bolt with him... All in all it was a pretty cool experience!
