Where I stayed
. She is torn between horror at the waste of her careful hour spent cutting it and amusement at the fact that he now resembles a badger. In an attempt to fix it, we try doing the same on the other side, but it now looks like an upturned pudding-bowl. There is nothing for it, but to take a Bic to it. So, after another hour or so of careful shaving, Danny looks less pudding-bowl and more Phil Mitchell. However, Vicky rather likes his new, rather menacing look, although it is rather a good job he doesn’t have to go back to work next week.
With Danny mourning his sudden hair-loss, we decide that the best remedy is to get to the beach pronto. Fortunately, Naxos seems to be the cure for all ills and we spend a happy few hours among the dreadlocked, hippie community pretending that we have given up all material assets and have adopted a life of carefree existing in the olive groves of the Greek islands.
It is lovely to wake up and know that we don't have to pack-down and get on the road and accordingly celebrate this fact with an extra hour in bed. Over the course of the last two weeks Danny’s hair seems to have taken on a life of its own. Being in the sun seems to make it grow at more than twice its usual rate and he now looks like a rather odd cross between Tintin and Barry Manilow. We enquire in the town as to whether there is a Barber shop, and are told that there is not, although you can have a visiting hair-dresser for fifteen euroes. Thinking that we could buy and set up our own Barber shop for this price, or even hire a quartet, we decide that it is best if Vicky cuts it herself. Unfortunately, all we own is a pair of scissors and Danny’s beard trimmer, which is by this point becoming rather blunt. Vicky therefore spends a good hour carefully trimming his hair and it is a feat of highly skilled engineering to get it the same length all round. She pauses half way through for a toilet break and to her surprise, when she returns, Danny is so keen to get windsufing that he has adopted a DIY style of hairdressing, resulting in a bald, go-faster stripe all along his left ear
