So to Bohol to see the chocolate hills and the smallest monkeys in the world..The tarsiers.. I think lou is hoping she can hold one...im gonna try and buy one, dress it up as a police man and take it around the rest of the philippines for comedy value..

so i think i wrote some off the stuff for here in the last post,.....

anyway some observations from the philippines..(we both really like it here!)

Napkin fetish...

Over here they seem to have the above fetish in restaurants...

So there are two of you, you order a meal and already you have used 8 paper napkins... how can this be i here you say??...

Well they wrap everything in paper napkins...your knife, fork, spoon and the top of any bottle of beer...wrapped in a knapkin..so 2 beers and a bit of cutlery and the napkin count is already hitting 8....so you sinka couple of lagers on top of this ( and its rude not to at these prices..see below..) and there is gonna be a napkin shortage..... just a bit odd thats all...i wouldnt like to be the geezer that delivers those napkins...he must be built like a shed...

So next thing...dwarfs...or small people..genetic ones...

Over in england ..well i dont know what they do work wise..

Over in the philippines well they put them to work..oh yes to work i say..
in boracay there is one such geezer and someone had the bright idea of dessing him up in a childs costume of 'nemo' ( from the cartoon finding nemo) so this poor bloke has to trudge up and down the beach all day every day in his nemo suit promoting some 2 bob glass bottom boat tour..(well this might be ok on Blackpool beach but try doing that in 35 degree heat...) poor bastard...

We spotted a restuarant called the 'Hobbit house'...well us thinking this was some tribute to the popular film series 'the lord of the rings' stepped a little closer for a peak of the menu...only to discover that again the dwarfs had been put to work in merciless fashion and were dressed as hobbits (no special effects needed!)..oh how we chortled...then stepped in side and hammered the happy hour specials...job done..

Prices in the Philippines:

So i thought i would string together a few prices just so anyone planning to come over here could get a feel for how much cash to bring along...And really its worth a visit..

San miguel beer 25p
Coke 20p
Packet of chocky biscuits 9p
6 litres of mineral water 70p
fried rice with veg 30p
plain rice 10p
BBQ chicken 100p
Boat for the day (all yours!) 12 quid
internet 1 hr 50p
1 double room sat tv/air con /phone... 9 quid
car with driver all day................ 20 quid
8 internal flights... 200 quid

so as you can see its pretty cheap ........

We found the tarsiers and cute littlefellows they were to. they look like a cross between an ewok and a firby (photos to come in the next few days). Lou fell in love with them and its pretty easy to see why they are nearly extinct..they just fall asleep all the time and make no effort to escape the mauling tourists and locals give em... you can stroke away as much as you like...

Also saw the chocolate hills which is a curious group of large hills or mounds that just rise out of the ground over a large area...as we saw them at the end of the rainy season they were green but still impressive...
