Of all the meat I downed, it was here in Nis ("neesh") that I had the best roasted lamb dinner ever, but could only eat about half the portion. And cheap!

Pedestrian streets in the center and a historically important fortress adjacent just across the river, where one of Serbia's heroes sacrificed himself and 4000 of his men to kill 10000 Turks during the Battle of Cegar.
