We all slept like logs in our little Flintstones bedrooms. We actually slept in, then just stayed in bed until about 8.00am. It may have been partly from fear. The rock-wall on the other side of the river was brightly lit as if by Armageddon – and the sky was a strange "blue" colour. But we were reassured that the sky is sometimes blue in Tasmania which allows the sun to brighten everything up.

We took advantage of this sudden improvement in the weather by staying put at our campsite and soaking up the sun (and getting everything DRY). Brett made awesome pancakes for brekkie with maple syrup and brandy cream, followed by eggs and bacon.

Later, the guides inflated a single kayak and people took turns negotiating the Newland Cascades solo. Wayne had a successful run and Cathy had two before we stopped for a late lunch.

We packed up late and headed downstream in the rafts at about 5.00pm, arriving at our next campsite at about 9.00pm. It was a mostly pebble covered island with some scrubby trees in the middle. In failing light, we wondered how we would sleep and stay dry as we set up our beds for the night.

Dinner was BBQ chops and sausages followed by pizzas (cooked from scratch in a frypan) with tiramisu for dessert. It all made for a late night. Bugger. We have a big day tomorrow.
