We arrived in Medellin early morning on the night bus from Tolú. So in less than two years, I was once again back in this big city with its spectacular setting in the Aburrá Valley. Breakfast consisted of Colombian hot dogs at the bus station, and after having tried the new cable Metro, we went in search for Felipe, a local and a good friend of Johana. He immediately invited us for lunch at his apartment in central Medellin, before he showed us a nearby hotel where we decided to lodge. The place was excellent as well as pretty cheap, and nothing like the backpacker standard I had gotten used to during my previous visit to Latin America.

Back in Madrid we had planned a few days in Medellin, but it was now clear that it would be only one night as we still had a lot of things to do and places to go during this short 3 week visit. So on our only night in the city, we therefore arranged to meet up with Felipe his wife and their young son at a restaurant up in the ritzy El Poblado neighborhood, with a spectacular view over Medellin. After a delicious dinner and a good few drinks, Felipe and his wife had to go back home and get their son to bed. As Johana and I were also travelling with kids, we also opted for an early night. Watching a cheesy movie on the TV that night, my thoughts drifted of to all the cool bars and restaurants up in Parque Lleras as well as to one particular Halloween night at Mango's back in 2005. They would have to do without me this time, but surely I will be back...
