I am finally back in Colombia. This time only for a 3 weeks visit. Starting in Cartagena de Indias. I couldn't stay away for more than 18 months from this beautiful country on this beautiful continent. I really had other plans this year. Maybe tasting a bit more of Asia. Visit Bangkok Rob at least. But, but..., but when Johana asked me if I wanted to come with her to Colombia, how could I resist. Johana happens to be from Colombia. She has lived in Madrid for many years, where we also first met (maybe you remember my flashbacks from Popayán party back in April last year), but since both her sister, nieces and lots of her closest family still lives in Colombia she is keen on trying to visit as often as possible. So here we are. We flew into Bogota from Madrid, and connected directly to Cartagena de Indias on the Caribbean coast. A beautiful city I know pretty well from my previous two visits. Here we met up with Johana's oldest niece and a cousin who flew in from Pereira in the Coffee zone, Johana's hometown.

We didn't stay for more than two short days, but managed to see most of the stunning historic walled city as well as getting some sun on Playa Blanca. But with the jet-lag constantly in ambush mode, both Johana and I were looking forward to head on to a more relaxed destination. A completely new location for me and pretty much still off the beaten track. Tolú and Archipielago de San Bernardo coming up next...
