After a few days in Salvador, we planned on hitting both the popular backpacker spots of Morro de S„o Paulo and Itacarť further south along the coast. But because the time is flying down here in Brazil, and since we also couldn't be bothered to hang around for hours waiting for a bus and/or boat, we ended up skipping them both, and headed for Arraial d'Ajuda instead, about 11 hours south of Salvador. Arraial d'Ajuda is another popular backpacker spot, minutes away from both party capital Porto Seguro and the more tranquil and hip Trancoso. We planned on staying for 5-6 days, drinking chilled caipirinha and relaxing on beautiful beaches. But instead we ended up sleeping away the weekend and leaving after just three days of more or less constant rain. I must admit I still liked the place, and I can definitively see it's potential, but at the moment we are sun seekers (it's not like we don't have plenty of rain back home).

There's not that much more to say about our stay, except that we had some nice days in a beautiful and cheap pousada owned by two friendly thirtysomething Norwegians (Vidar and Jarl from Bergen). We also walked for three hours along the beautiful stretch of beaches from Trancoso and back to Arraial d'Ajuda. I had hoped to bump into Gisele BŁndchen on the deserted beach and maybe invite her for a swim, but she was nowhere to be seen (I just read that she split up with Leonardo Di Caprio, and thought that she would be down here in one of her properties in Trancoso, maybe looking for some chťvere company).
