...of my nail scissors, or maybe I just forgot them on the Galapagos cruise or something. A pair of nail scissors, that's the only thing I have lost or gotten stolen off me after more than a year in Latin America. Not bad if you ask me. To be honest, I don't really know what I expected (except a few rip-off's from taxi drivers, tour agencies etc.), but must say that I am happy, if not surprised, that nothing ugly has happened to me on the whole trip. Most people I have met have had similar experiences, but of course I have also met people who have gotten mugged, things stolen, items lost (more valuable than a pair of scissors) or had a few scary stories to tell. It's all part of the traveling game, just lets hope we have luck the few remaining months as well.

I'm back in Quito, this time with my brother, just a quick stop to check out the city and look into flight prices to Brazil. I suspect it will be expensive, so we may have to take another detour instead of the direct route. Being back in Quito means we also got the time to enjoy some international cuisine, namely Thai and Indian curries. In fact, I had both the cheapest and best Indian curry so far on this trip. I haven't had that many, but how can you beat a delicious Bhuna at a total price of US $4???

Looks like the coast of Brazil won't be next, as we have another surprise for you. It will probably end up being a couple of weeks detour (and probably more costly than the direct flight to the coast of Brazil). Anyway, watch this space!
