We made a three day stop in the capital of Australia, Canberra. One day we spent hiking in a nature reserve outside of town. We had a wonderful hike to the Gibraltar Rocks. Saw lots of kangaroo along the way. Went through a forest of grass trees. Also saw a platypus. This is one of two mammals that lay an egg and then nurse the baby after it hatches. Hope you enjoy the picture. The second day in the capital city, we visited the Museum of Australia and also visited Parliament House. Got to go into the house while it was in session. Much like visiting the house in session in DC except much more raucous. The members of the minority party were actually yelling out as presentations were made by the majority party. Then headed on to the Blue Mountains just 75 miles west of Sydney. Rented a wonderful two bedroom townhouse so close to the Echo Point entrance to the national park we could walk. Had wonderful views of the Three Sisters and hiked beautiful bush hikes. The second day we drove to Wentworth Falls Visitor Center, about 7 miles from our townhouse, and hiked the Valley of the Waters track. Even though the weather was misty again, this was the most beautiful hike we had ever done. I hope you can get some hint of the beauty from the pictures.
