Our Last day in Cairo. It was fantastic. We both really love Cairo. It is an amazing city. I've never been anywhere quiet like it. Its big and busy and warm and dusty and totally safe and friendly. We both feel safer there than we do here in Edmonton. The people are very friendly and helpful, granted 1/3 of them wanted to sell us stuff from their shop, lol.
Our last day there we didn't see much other than the market. We had waited till the last minute to do our shopping in Cairo. The Khal el Khalhili Market, its huge. small winding alley ways where you can buy anything you want its pretty neat. Its pretty easy to get lost. every where you turn there's another aley to go down with people selling souveniers, jewlery, fabric and pretty much anything else you can think of. I got myself a set of 3 granite pyramids for a 8 bucks....i love granite and the pyramids are cool too...
I wasn't the only one who got themselves something. The pretty lady beside me happened to find themself a belly dance costume for about 1/8th of the price of getting one here.
We also took a quick little video of us crossing the street. Its a lot different than crossing the street here or Nashville or Gordo Alabama! lol.
The very last thing we did in Egypt was go to see some bellydancing. We wanted to go see one of the top dancers in the world. They dance in the 5 star hotels, but wouldn't you know it they dance 6 nights a week....yep you got it they don't dance on tuesday.....So we asked Hany, the guy that owns the hotel we stayed at. It turned out better in the end i think.
He takes us to a belly dance club that his uncle by marriage owns. It was on the 7th floor of another hotel. They didn't start dancing till 11:30, and we got a new dancer every 30 min and they got better as the night went on. We left at 2:45am they continued on till about 6 am. Wouldn't you know it....They see the whities(this was a very "local" place counting nadine and i there were 2 tourist) and see Nadine enjoying the music so of course they come out to the audience and drag her on stage. She certainly didn't give much resistance! ya'll will see the video when i get it posted in a bit. Hany ended up staying the whole time with us. I think he just wanted a chance to relax and smoke a sheesa (water pipe). At least he wasn't insistant that we join him. Everywhere we went, restaurants or whatever they ask if you want sheesa. I guess it's a pretty popular thing.
