The "El Patio" restaurant in Tlaquepaque is famous for its female Mariachi band.  Bob, Jane, Patick and I went back to Guadalajara for more fabric, to purchase a saxophone and have a good day.  I have one student that I am helping learn alto saxophone and wanted one so we could play duets.  The last time I played sax was in the Ole Miss Jazz many years ago. We played lots of BIG BAND music which I adore.  I will be curious to see how quickly I remember the horn.  One of the high lights of my college years was playing in Bob Hope's band.  He had come to Ole Miss (University of Mississippi in Oxford) to crown our home coming queen.  He brought along his band but the baritone saxophone player was sick.  I was playing bari-sax with the concert band and got to fill in.  I will never forget all the scores were hand written and of COURSE we played "Thanks for the Memories"

After chores were done and the fabric and saxophone secured we headed over to the "El Patio"  restaurant for pork loin and tamarindo marguaritas before heading back home.  We had a first for me.  While at the Intercontinental hotel meeting the seller of the saxophone we got stuck in the elevator.  There were a few ANXIOUS moments before hotel security could free us from the stuck car but what a RELIEF to get out!

What a great memory Steve! Was he using Les Brown and His Band of Renown then too? I feel claustrophobic thinking about the elevator situation!
