After a blinder of a long weekend exploring Krakow and the Tatra Mountains in Poland, it was in Glasgow that we continued our fun. The main event here was The Mars Volta gig at Carling Academy in Glasgow. I flew back from Krakow into Edinburgh on the Monday afternoon, with Will on a seperate flight a few hours behind me. Shortly after we joined again at my flight in the Merchant City (well done to Will for navigating the Glasgow grid), we were back out for a bite to eat and pint to drink.

We struggled to find Will some vege food (being in Scotland of course), and settled for a vege burger and chips at wee restaurant in Merchant Square. Following dinner I took Will on a short pub crawl of the west end, to the cinema themed converted theatre 'The Loft' and to and older Scottish pub - Tennents. Of course before this I took him on the quirky Glasgow subway 'clockwork orange' - the third oldest in the world!

The next day I dragged myself to work whilst Will caught up on some uni work. I was getting a good vibe and getting amped up for the gig I had been waiting for for months - The Mars Volta. After work I scooted home whipped on the jeans and we headed back out to the pub for a few warm up drinks before the gig. We once again hopped on the clockwork orange over the southside the Carling Academy for the gig. A great venue for it. One of the nicest I've seen.

I was damn excited about seeing The Mars Volta again. Last time was in Melbourne almost a year ago to the day. I knew how good they were going to be and was getting shivers thinking about it. They came on about 8pm without warning and without support. They played for a wapping great 3 hours without a break!! And only then did they speak:  "We've been told we have to stop now, we don't want to. We could play for two days." I was astounded (and sore!). They burst with energy from the moment they set on the stage till the very end. I loved it, and so did Will. It was a lot different to what he was expecting perhaps. I thought it was one of the best gigs I've been to. Maybe even the best!

Anyway, we had another great night and I think Will enjoyed seeing some of the more exciting parts of Glasgow, as going to a gig here is one of the best things to do!
