This is it, finally we are off! Ian Bennett took us to St Austell train station, what an excellent taxi service he provides at competitive rates. Surprise, surprise, at 0943 hrs., the train arrives on time and our adventure begains. First Great Western took the scenic route along the sea wall at Teignmouth and Dawlish. Althought the tide was in, the sea was calm so no waves over the top of the train today. Don't get much extra these days for paying first class, but the seats were comfortable, coffee and stickies were free and it was the proper way to start our journey to 'down under'.
We went only as far as Reading, arriving on time at 1315hrs., where the 'Train/Air' coach to Heathrow was waiting. Bit of a traffic jam in Reading and a blockage on the M4. Our driver detoured and got us to Heathrow around 1500 hrs., We were a bit early to get the cases sorted, so had a coffee and a wander around Terminal 3, observing the sights and sounds.
Once the cases were checked in, can't turn back now. Better get something to eat, some
smellies from duty free and wait for our flight to come up on the big screen with our boarding gate number.
