John arrives at 7:30 to pick me up and we bike into Phon Thong bus station.  Leaving the bike ouitside a busy bank we take the 8:20 bus bound for Khon Kaen.  We couldnt buy a ticket because we werent sure where we were going.  Had great fun trying to explain what we were looking for and that we would shout when we saw it and buy our tickets when we got off.  They told us the house builders were at a village called Rong Kham but this is only 25km away and I am sure it is farther than that we need to go.  Sure enough we sail past Rong Kham and continue for about 50km until we reach Ban Bo where I spot a yard where they are constructing a simple house.  We leave the bus here and go for a look around.
The quality of the timber and the workmanship is pretty good and although the finished product looks a bit small to me John likes them.  They are priced at about GBP3000 for a 6x4m house which seems a bit steep but this is obviously negotiable.
I knew there were a few more places a little further along the road but we didnt want to wait for the next bus.  Crossing the road we flag down a passing pick-up truck and manage to scrounge a lift.  Climbing into the back along with a couple of very drunk young chaps we set off.  They have been workiong away from home and are now returning to their families.  They invute us to go with them for a few drinks and some food but we politely decline.
We get off at the Nong Paen Intersection where there are two more house building yards.  They were both making similar designs but the quality of the wood and the work left a lot to be desired.
We called it a day and went to the main road to wait for a passing bus.  I knew what time the buses left Khon Kaen and by estimating how long it would take them to get here we were only about 10mins out in our timing.  We bussed back to Phon Thong then biked about 5km out of town to a small furniture shop that made small garden houses.  They also make the larger houses but dont sell them at this site.  John picks up a business card with a web address and we leave to head back to Khamnadie and it is now really hot.
Later this afternoon George and Wan arrive to tell Jai that she cant go on her holiday tomorrow after all.  The trip is for members of a village Womens Group to which Jai does not belong.  Several people have complained about non-members coming and they have had to limit those who can go.  She is a little disappointed and it would have been better had it not even been mentioned in the first place.
I go out to the farm to try and catch up my lost hours from this morning and get a call in to mum before I leave.
