At 06:00 this morning there was a tapping on the bedroom window and it turned out to be the candidate that she went around the village with a few days back. He discreetly places 100Bht (20GBP) in Jai's hand and leaves. I dont have to ask who she will be voting for !!
I go back to the farm again in the afternoon whilst Jai goes to await the big result. It makes little difference who wins because both candidates are bent and will keep most of the money they are entrusted with for the village.
Clearing the bamboo is hard work and I have reverted to cutting rather than burning as at least I can see some progress.
I get back to the house to find a small party in progress at Ang and Deu's next door. It turns out that someone has come to negotiate a marriage with their eldest daughter Di. The price is being discussed now over copious beer and whisky !!
