Jai's daughter Jiap, arrives from Bangkok this afternoon as do a lot of people from all around the village.  New Year is a popular holiday here and most people head back to theiur family homes for a party or six.
I am still feeling less than 100% but cant let the occasion pass.  Late afternoon I take a couple of bottles of beer to see George and toast the end of 2010.  Neither of us are planning celebrating tonight and plan to be in bed well before the witching hour.  Upon returning back to the house, however, I find that other people have other ideas.  Jai's daughter has bought a box a beer and some neat which a group of family are now drinking and BBQing in our back garden.  'PARTY !!' greets me as I come around the corner but 'I dont think so' is my less than enthusiastic reply.  I sit and drink another beer with them all before seeking refuge on my own in front of the house as about 30 people assemble in the garden and kitchen.  I slink off to bed about 21:30 and shortly after the party breaks up.  Apparently the party is the important thing and nopt the change of year at midnight.
I can hear loud music from at three seperate parties around the village as I lie in bed and I struggle to sleep and am still awake at midnight.  The music continues throughout the night and maybe I was lucky enough to grab one hour of sleep.
