I talk to) to be told that there is no problem just a few security questions as it an unusual charge. Eventually get approval for the payment. She tells me that if I just pres the send button on the internet again everything will be OK. I point out that I have an hours round trip on a motorbike to even get to an internet computer before I can start to fill in all the crap again but I guess that it isnt her problem. Eat lunch then back into town, still feeling lousy, and manage to complete the transaction. I am now the proud owner of tickets with Egypt Air from Bangkok to Cairo to London to Cairo to Bangkok for March 28th and September 21st next year.
In the evening a loud banging of firecrackers followed by the temple drums announces the death of an old fella two doors down from us who has been sick for a while. Another distant relation apparently but almost everyone in the village qualifies on that score or so it seems.
Miracle of miracles Jai actually receives 2000Bht, about 45GBP, for her rice today. I still dont understand why she is getting anything but hey...
Still not feeling 100% I bike into Phon Thong this morning meaning to guy our flight tickets back to the UK for next spring. Spend ages on the internet filling out all of the flights and passenger details, even allocating seats on all four flights, then fill out all of the payment details only to have my bank refuse to authorize payment. They give me a code number and a phone number to call but I dont have a phone with me. Bike back to the village and call the number but only get a message in Thai. Jai is not around so off to see George's wife for a translation. No sign of her either but George's daughter tells me that it is an invalid number. I try a number of different combinations before finnaly getting a ringing tone. Unfortunately whilst playing with the numbers I have inadvertently called a Thai chap on his mobile and he keeps phoning mne back. I tell hiom sorry that I made a mistake but he keeps calling. Am not sure what I said to him in the end but I hope his English was not very good !! Eventually get through to my bank in UK (actually Ireland judging by the people
