In the evening we go to the Sunday Tha Phar Gate street market and wander around for an hour or so. We cut through to the Saloon Bar for a pizza as a change from rice but when we get there it is surprisingly busy and it appears that a number of people have just ordered. Decide that it is probably going to be a long wait for food so we leave to find somewhere else that does pizzas. As usual, we see adverts for pizzas all of the time when out walking but when we are actually looking for somewhere cant find anyone. As we pass a junction I spot an Italian flag signpost outside a restaurant in a side street and we check this out to find a long list of pizzas on offer. Food is OK but nothing special and we wont be rushing back. Stop off at Sugar Bar for ONE beer and then back to the room for the night.
Jai's turn for breakfast today - hurrah. Go out for a long walk this morning and as I am returning to the room bump into Jai just buying our lunch. When I start to go out again in the afternoon Jai decides to come with me and have a look around the old city. I stop at the ATM to get some cash then go and see a friend, Lily, who works for, perhaps owns, a travel company Penguin Tours, and who organises most of our travel arrangements when we are here and has done for a few years now. Jai and Lily sit chatting for ages but eventually I get myself booked onto a minibus for a visa run tomorrow and Lilly will go out to the bus station for us at some time to buy our tickets for the bus from Chiangmai to Khon Kaen at 20:00 on Tuesday night, 2nd Nov. We walk through the market at Somphet and go and find the coffee shop that belongs to an old friend of ours Pirng/Honey. The shop is closed and when we ask a chap at a neighbouring bookshop he tells us that she is away for a few weeks, what a coincidence. Walk around the back streets for a while but nothing seems to have changed here and we stop off at Sugar Bar for a coffee on our way back
