Where I stayed
Awake before 06:00 this morning on the alarm as Jai is going to Sugar Bar to help Ben prepare for the bar's 'Tambon' good luck blessing from the monks today. I walk to the bar with her, have a cup of coffee to wake up a little, then back to our room for some more sleep. I am not feeling too good again today as a result of last nights beer. Am definitely going to abstain for a while once we get back to Khamnadie. I go back to the bar just after 09:00 as Bill heads off in his pick-up to collect 9 monks from Wat Chang Khong. The monks are welcomed by all then sit in a line across the bar. They light candles, as do Bill, Ben and Henry, then they chant their blessing. There is food everywhere so I hope that they are hungry. Bill offers the head monk food and when it is accepted they all get plates put in front of them and a good feed ensues. I cant get the image of Da Vincis painting of the last supper as I see them sat in a line eating - only 9 of them of course but whose looking for historical accuracy. I head back to Kong Court again askig Jai to bring me any leftovers that the monks cant manage and get my head down again for a nap. Jai returns early afternoon with enough food to feed a small army and we eat then and agin later and still have some left. I stay on the bed most of the afternoon watching a film on TV. We go back to Sugar Bar for the evening party at 20:00 and find Dave & Max and Cliff already there; Tukta will join us later. Stay well away from the beer indulging in a soda water with a slice of lime which is really refreshing in my fragile condition. Have a game of darts with Cliff and a few games of pool and eat yet again. We are one of the last to leave at about 23:00. On the way back we bump into the Aussie guy who was having problems with one of our neighbours. She has now mailed him his suitcases and he has started a relationship with an older lady already !! Quite a few of the bars are celebrating Halloween tonight - a day early.
