Was up between 02:00 and 04:00 this morning to watch Arsenal in Champions League.  The TV picture was awful and wish I hadnt bothered but at least I could take it easy once morning arrived.

There was a big concert just outside the village for most of the day but fortunately Jai didnt want to go so I didnt have to go either.  Years ago, a chap in the village made a promise to his Buddha that if could be lucky in life he would come back to the village one day and put on a shaow in his Buddha's honour.  And that is just what he is doing today.  A big stage has been erected out in the fields near a Buddha shrine although unfortunately it looks a bit muddy, slippy and generally unwelcoming.  'Mor lam' is traditional Isaan folk musin and although some of it is OK most of it sounds exactly the same to the untrained ear such as mine and distictly dull and irritating hence my pleasure at not having to go !!

It would appear that the worst of the rains have finished - perhaps I shouldnt have said that !!  Anyway, with us leaving for a week or so away it is time to get some seeds into the ground.  I pretty much finished the digging this morning and have planted several plots with big onions, small onions, corriander, lettuce and have topped up where a few of the beans I planted earlier havent come through.
