Well, night time robbery actually.  George and his missus came to see us this morning to tell us that someone had broken into their house in the village last night whilst they were sleeping.  There are five people sleeping there at the moment and they broke in through a window in the only room that didnt have a person in it.  Sounds a bit dodgy to me as though it may have been someone they knew or who knew the house layout at least.  Fortunately they only got away with a pair of old shoes but it is a little worrying if this is the start of a trend.  Remarkably they got a quick response from the police who normally dont respond to anything for free.  Will wait and see what happens in the long run but George has already written his shoes off !!
Talking about the police had a lovely 'police moment' last week.  Came into Phon Thong early and the internet and shop I wanted still werent open.  I parked up under a tree near a busy crossroads and watched the traffic coming and going for a while.  Lots of vehicles and motorbikes getting in each others way but at least everything was moving and there was no real hold ups.  Then opposite me I spotted a policeman pull up on his motorbike.  First instincy here is to give all police a wide berth and I was just about to move on when I thought that he was far enough away to stay put for a while.  He slowly stretched, pulled on a pair of long white gloves and adjusted his helmet.  Checked his appearance in the bike's mirror then proceeded to go and stand in the middle of the crossroads and direct traffic.  Well, more accurately, stop traffic.  It must have been his one moment of power in an otherwise boring day and after creating havoc for about 10 minutes he returned to his motorbike and rode off, job done.
