The young rice is just about ready to be planted out. Jai's brother Sai had normally taken care of the farm for Jai but more often than not had taken care of himself at her expense. This year we have switched allegiance to her nephew Tia who will be working on her sisters fields next door as well. Fingers crossed. Last year we ended up with 20 x 30kg bags but this year are hoping for between 80 - 100 bags. When we sold off the surplus last year we were paid 300Bht (GBP6) per bag for the sticky rice and 500Bht (GBP8) for the boiling rice.
