After a little nap and a shower I headed out to find some croissants. Although I am sure the French rule in Laos would not have been amazing, there is still an influence here. That means good bread and pretty buildings. The city is fairly small with some little temples littered around, with monks coming out of every street. In the afternoon we went to the Palace Museum. It is no where near as posh or as rich as some of the others I have seen travelling. Had an afternoon nap, before going out and sampling some of Laos food. Rather nice, better than Thai.
Our final day in LP, we got up at 5am to see the monks receiving alms at the start of the day. It Awas peaceful but over quickly as the monks received their food and kept on walking. A few gave away some food to begging children. Needless to say when it was over we went back to bed for a few hours. In the afternoon we took a mini bus to Kuang-Si waterfall. There was a nasty bear park attached to the side, but when you walk beyond it, the waterfall is very pretty, with light blue water and generally unspoilt surroundings. The water was freezing though, but actually nice as it was another hot day.
So pleased to have finally made it to Lao. I regretted not going when I was in the region 3 years ago, but I am finally here and loving what the country has to offer as it is so beautiful.
