What a day! We walked from the hotel to the zoo! It was a nice stroll along the river and it was beautiful outside. I heard that it was yucky at home...not here. 73 and sunny. I was lucky enough to be in short sleeves and my new birks!!! My feet were in heaven. We got tickets and headed in and stayed to the left. We got in the door and I asked Marlin what the last time was that he went to the zoo for a visit. He said NEVER. I am In awe and so happy it was with me. I got to use that expensive college education and tell him about fish and animals. He actually went on a safari in South Africa and was telling me about all the animals he saw there. We were in the aquarium and we came across clown fish. I need to set up movie night too! He has never seen nemo. So clearly I introduced him to nemo and his dad Marlin. As he was taking the picture he said "dori get out of the way" he was actually listening to me!!! I then began singing "just keep swimming". Guess you had to be there! We went through the reptile area and I pleaded with him to not touch me and freak me out as I looked at snakes. He did a great job until we saw some African spiders and he says "geez steph, the ones you have at home are bigger". Guess who is having nightmares tonight!
We did however get there at a good time. It was time for lunch. We came up in the wolves and they were growling as the zookeeper threw femur bones at them. Scary! This place has the craziest barriers I have seen. It seemed like they could jump across and head out to the street! As we were walking away we hear a rustle in the bushes. Yeah I was not the only one that jumped!!
We found the kangaroo compound. I think that people were looking part time at them and part time at Marlin's calves. I bet we could have had a competition!
After the zoo we took the tram to the market place and sat outside at the restaurant we went to the first night. As a creature of habit I go the classic cordon blue and Marlin had the pork version with ham and Gorgonzola. Yum!! We did some people watching and saw this little kid with a knights helmet on and sword as walked up the street. Too cute!!
We went to the grocery store and bought stuff for picnic dinner. I mean the battle of State and U of M is on so we will be staying in for the night!! We are resting up and packing and getting ready for Zurich tomorrow!!
