. We spent about 90 minutes inside and saw the Mona Lisa, Venus and amazing other pieces of art work. By the time we came outside the sun was shining and we had smiles an cameras out (umbrealla broken down and in Marlins pocket). We walked a bit and decided lunch was next. We found a cafe outside and had this amazing goat cheese quiche and red wine. There were multiple brides that walked by looking cold and in a hurry and the people watching was pretty good too!We walked it off and found a metro to the Arc DeTriumph. Ir was pouring again. We walked there and took pics and then got back on the train IMMEDIATELY (insert thinking twice about asking Marlin to get umbrellas out of his pocket). The Eiffel Tower was next. We took the train farther and walked the mall up to the tower. It was almost sunset and took great pictures as we approached the tower. There are so many I could not download them all. It was chilly and we needed drinks. We thought about taking a river cruise and when we stood in line for 10
Minutes and were totally ignored, we decided to pass! We took a quick walk towards the right bank and found ourselves in a neighbrhood and guess what I found?? An English microbrew!! So here we sit with fast wifi, 3 rotating pints and a shared plate of goodness. It was a good day. We need to make it home, but the daily pass for transport was put to good use and I am looking forward to bed soon!
*SHIT! I hope it is not raining when we leave, maybe I will have Marlin drink a few more then the umbrella won't be such a touchy subject!! Wish me luck!!
*Brilliant idea! I will get him an umbrella for Christmas that is reinforced with steel!!
Oh what a day!! Man, Marlin should have worn his rubbers today. He got awful wet wearing shorts in 50 degree rainy weather....but he looked good! We all slept in this morning, actually until almost 9. I do not think that any of us moved last night. We were a bit swollen and tired this morning, but we managed to get around and have breakfast downstairs. It was a nice spread. We left with a mere sprinkle outside that turned into a major shower. Amanda was smart enough to bring an umbrella. We took public transit to downtown and it was quick and easy. 2 umbrellas later and we made it 15 feet before Marlin lost his handle (not grip) and the damn thing flew inside out. Amanda and I tried to keep a straight face. It was beyond hard. (Insert wheeze here). We went to Notre Dame first and decided against standing in line in the rain for 2 hrs and did the walk around. We took great pictures and headed onto Hotel de Ville and the Louvre. We walked in nasty weather (insert umbrella flip here)and got tickets pretty quick(insert Marlin getting pissed at the umbrella and I had to switch my perfectly fine umbrella before melt down ensued) and headed down into the Pyramid
