Jack & I spent our weekend, Thursday Friday days off, in Koya-san. We stayed at a Buddhist Temple and really enjoyed being up in the mountains. They provided meals with our room (vegetarian!) and we also had the opportunity to take a hot bath. In the morning we got up at 6 attended the Buddhist Ceremony in the morning.

The area around Koya-san was nice to check out. We saw Okunoin and Daimon gate. Okunoin is a famous graveyard.

Your pictures are absolutely great. I know when Mom and Laura see them we will all be regretting that we didn't do the Monastery with you. You can almost feel the serenity surrounding you. I'm a bit surprised by how nice the accommodations look. My vision of it was much more austere. I was a bit surprised too that there was a television in your room. I doubt you had any reason to turn it on. Also, I am glad to see we didn't trash your apartment too badly. I see that you already fixed all the things we broke and wiped the sushi off the walls. Love, Dad
