Well, today was starting day. I woke up at 3:30 A.M... Foley brought me to the airport for an early flight. I landed in Atlanta. Delta misplaced my bag. What a way to start! I took a $160 cab ride to Amicalola Falls State Park. It was pouring out! It was a sign of things to come! I registered as hiker number 252 for the year and my pack weighed in at 36 lbs. Not too bad! As I started up the trail, I met up with Russell and his 60lb pack. There were over 600 stairs to the top of the falls! Worst of all there was a parking lot at the top. I stayed at Springer Mountain (the official starting point). We had a full shelter since a group of Virginia Tech girls on spring break showed up.
