We wanted to see Versailles, and had been told that we should get the 8:00 train there to arrive as it opens at 9:00 to beat the lines. We managed to make it out if the hotel on time, but ran Into a delay caused by striking subway workers on one of the lines.
Versailles was huge and elaborate, but unfortunate the only thing more amazing than its gold plated ceilings and beautiful tapestries was the amount of tourists in the building! We were basically shoulder to shoulder working our way through the building, trying to get a few pictures not totally blocked by the back of other people's heads. We toured the gardens and the house occupied by Marie Antoinette, then sat by the pond for awhile enjoying the sunshine.

By the time we got back, it was time to meet up with our tour group at the hotel. We are really impressed with the tour so far everything is really well organized and all the people in the group are very friendly and around our age. Lots of couples, mainly from New Zealand and Australia, with a few others from Canada and a brother- sister from Germany who we went out with for a few beers last night. After having a few days of traveling by ourselves it is nice to have someone looking after us and driving us here and there. After a nice French meal with the group and a chance to try escargot, we went on a nighttime driving tour of the city. It was very nice.
