Took the high speed train from Amsterdam to Brussels this morning. The trip took two hours - James clocked the speed of the train at 300km/hr! We were very pleased with our hotel here. Great location and nice room (and cheap). Had lunch at a sidewalk cafe. We are finding the serving staff much more relaxed here than we are used to (it can take forever to eat a meal).. After lunch we took a tour of
the city on one of those tourist buses. Lots of
really old buildings and beautiful streets.

Had some famous Brussels moules frites for dinner with Belgian waffles for dessert and then on to a few bars after that. Tried
for an early night, as we are now on the train à Paris. We saw some more sights this morning, the gorgeous and over-the-top Grand-Place and the strange Mannekin Pis statue, Brussels' most famous attraction.

So far, things have been pretty easy to walk to, with nice transportation and nice people, but everything is very expensive and our cash is disappearing. Food and clothing in particular are much more expensive than back home.
